Dehydration occurs when you use or lose more fluid than you take in, and your body doesn't have enough water and other fluids to carry out its normal functions.



What are some signs of dehydration?

  • Increased thirst

  • Dry mouth

  • Dry skin

  • Sunken eyes

  • Low urine output

What are some causes of dehydration?

  • Excessive Sweating

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Inadequate water intake

  • Excessive Urination

What are the effects of dehydration on a Boxer?

  • Decreased alertness

  • Decreased concentration

  • Slowed reaction time

  • Increased tiredness or fatigue

  • Headaches

  • Impaired exercise performance

How to prevent dehydration when boxing?

  • Drink plenty of water!!!

  • Avoid rapid weight loss, saunas, sweat suits, diuretics (water pills), laxatives
